FAQ
Q: When is The Party?
A: The 2nd Saturday of every month at noon.
Q: Where is The Party?
A: See this article.
Q: What should I bring?
A: See this article.
Q: How much is attendance?
A: Attendance is free, though we strongly encourage donations so we can recoup our initial costs (electricity distribution, blackout material, etc) and pay for the rent of the venue ($75 + $60 deposit). Initially, the recommended donation per gamer will be $10.
Q: Are LANifesto Staff also subject to these donations?
A: Yes, we also pay our share of the costs.
Q: What about food?
A: Expect to contribute about $5 for group pizza runs. We're still sourcing the best deals on this right now. If you want to provide for your own food that's fine too, but we ask that you schedule your feasting around the same time that we eat so we can keep the game server full.
Q: And drinks?
A: Drinks are community-chest style. We will have a cooler full of ice for you to stash cans of soda or bottled water, free for anyone to take in moderation. You do not have to bring drinks to each LAN, but the idea is that a handful of gamers courteously rotate the responsibility of bringing drinks every month. NO ALCOHOL.
Q: Do you have air conditioning?
A: Yes.
Q: Will there be internet access at the LAN?
A: No, the community center is not wired for the internet and no public Wi-Fi spots are nearby. A local file server will be provided for sharing patches of all the games we expect to play.
Q: Are speakers allowed?
A: No.
Q: Are battery backups (UPSes) allowed?
A: No.
Q: What kind of chairs are provided?
A: The venue provides us with decent quality folding chairs. Some people like to bring a pillow for cushioning.
Q: Can I bring my own chair?
A: Yes.
Q: Why are you holding this in Clanton?
A: If you can find a better venue with lower costs, we'd like to hear about it. All the recreation centers that we looked into in the Montgomery area are cost prohibitive, requiring a city employee to be present throughout the duration of the event. Since they don't normally work on Saturdays, we'd be paying close to $50/hr.
Q: Are you guys really communists?
A: No. We just thought LANifesto was a good name with lots of potential for puns, plus no one seemed to have taken it yet.
