LANifesto #5 - Bug Hunt
10 years ago the UK developer Rebellion carved a mark on the PC gaming industry that we like to call Aliens vs. Predator. Known for its fast, ruthless, unique gameplay with three different species duking it out all in the same map, the game was a smash hit and ultimately the one that would bring me into Mouse and Keyboard gaming. This game rocks hardcore, complete with a "Groovy" marine taunt courtesy of Bruce Campbell.
Fast forward to today and the game's aging code been updated to run on modern systems, now with the same incredible multiplayer, on Steam. For five bucks. Go buy it and watch me make you bleed.
But alas, this is only a marketing ploy to get you to buy the newest title in the franchise, Aliens vs Predator. 10 years in the making and 2 years in actual development, it's clear that Rebellion was so focused on delivering a game true to its roots that they completely forgot to update the title. Oh well.

TEN YEARS!! The urge to play this game is tearing up the LANifesto Kremlin so badly that we've decided to throw a LAN party with nothing more than this game in mind. Attendance will be capped at 18 players, the maximum allowed by the game (6 vs 6 vs 6). Of course, if we tire out, or rather, if you tire out, we'll throw something else up in a jiffy.
Aliens vs Predator (2010) is due to be released on February 16th in both retail and online distribution channels. LANifesto #5 is scheduled for February 20th.
LANifesto strongly recommends that you buy or preorder, because we'll be playing this game even if a crack hasn't been released yet. If a crack isn't out and you don't have the game, don't bother signing up. Update 2/16: Cracks are available at the usual sources. Be sure to grab the Razor1911 release, not RETARDED. Know that we do not condone piracy, only try-before-you-buy. Two of the [LF] staff members have already purchased the game. With the death of PC gaming still looming overhead, we encourage you to buy the game if you end up liking it.
Update 2/17: Only one map actually supports the maximum 18 players, so we're cutting the LAN down to 12 so we can have more variety and still keep everyone in the same game.
