LANifesto #4 - A Novel Idea
Recently I received an email with a novel sponsorship pitch.
No, really... it's for a bunch of novels. :P
Now before you run in terror, listen to this... not only is this the first time that I've ever heard of a publishing company wanting to sponsor a LAN party, but the sales pitch in the email was absolutely genius. After finding us on LANPartyMap.com and seeing that we play Call of Duty from time to time, the good folks at HarperCollins had this to say,
"We'd love for your gamers check out some of Dale [Brown]'s books, which are chock full of
Russians
nukes
terrorists &
high tech weaponry
All the same good stuff from the Modern Warfare games, except these story lines actually make sense."
As I said... genius. These guys really know how to stick it to Modern Warfail! Kudos goes to HarperCollins for exploiting this most interesting segway.
Everyone that attends LANifesto #4 will receive a free copy of former USAF Captain Dale Brown's Shadow Command, which captured two weeks on the NYT Best Seller list back in April last year. You'll also get a free copy of Strike Force, another book by the same author which got much warmer reviews on Amazon. All of this is in hopes that you'll end up as addicted to Dale Brown as I am to Farscape and pick up your own mass market edition of Rogue Forces and the soon-to-be-released Executive Intent, a sequel to Shadow Command. Just think... if these books actually catch on with the group and John Oliver's findings are to be believed, after our LAN party we'll be more than quadrupling the total NYC sales numbers of Sarah Palin's biography!! See you at the LAN!
